hi all.
i am a bigener gun shooter that want to design the pellets for our gun. also i am a metallurgist(materials engineering). and this is my B.S. project. so i want many information about the factory that produced these pellets or anything that sounds good for my project.
thank u for your help dear shooters.
;)for more contact with me u can mail me with this address:

we already have perfect pellet designs.
now if you want to do something unique which may or may not be absolutely necessary in the future.... design one that is just as accurate as today's pellets, but does not use Lead (Pb).

yup design something that does not contain lead thus no lead poisoning and have to be as accuate and as safe as lead ones. ie they dont ricochet like steel or other hard metal ones would.
if you did that and the whole world converted to it you will be fairly rich. lol

I always chuckle when I see these type of questions. Paraphrased it reads 'please can you do the leg work for my BS degree project for me'. I suggest you try some internet searches, find some airgun pellet manufacturers and put pen to paper. You can also include the ISSF discussions around lead replacements in the future. The rest I'm afraid is why it's your project and not ours.

i would not be quite as critical.... the opening chapter of his final paper might include the words "research conducted for this project included email interviews with olympic-style shooters around the world to assess the current state of the pellet industry and level of satisfaction with their products."
I think it was a reasonable request for info. In real life engineering it is very common to "ask around", I think we call it networking.
the top pellet makers are
H&N - which makes metal packaging foils for the food industry
RWS - 100+ year old ammunition company
VOGEL - I heard they make the swaging machines that all the other pellet companies use.

Poole,
Maybe I'm just more cynical than you ;). I have however come across such requests for information loads of time before on lots of other forums. Some instances being so blatent as to ask their essay or project title for others to answer.
It is the easiest thing in the world to start off doing a search on google and then seeing what you find. Come up with specific questions after that process then fine, ask the questions, but before hand smacks to me of lazyness. Heck I had to do my degree project off my own back and research it all myself and that's part of the process so I don't see why others should shortcut the process.

We didnt have computers when I was in college that didnt require programming every time they were turned on. And I worked several years before I actually did any work on one after I graduated.
And handheld calculators were expensive!
Do we have it easier now?
I wish I had all the resources that are at my fingertips right now when I was in school. I would have taken over the world. But I am getting lazy in my old age. I will be 50 soon.

When I was in college we didn't have computers of any kind.
I still find it incredible that I now have a cheap piece of software that can remove noise from a phonograph recording by 'simply' doing a Fourier analysis of the digitized wave form! In grad school my first digital counter stood six feet high and kept us all warm in the winter.
Those old days really were not so good.

Sashe:
Take a look in these articleabout the composition of the lead in pellets:

OK,
As alternatives go, have a look at prometheus pellets. I 'think' they are made in the UK but they are not lead, they are I think a tin alloy. You probably won't be able to find that much detail as to their content / manufacture but it's an alternative to look at.

Thus it would seem that "lead free" airgun projectiles are an answer to a problem that doesn't exist.
oh those are nice words :)
sadly there is a certain class of people who specialize in creating imaginary problems where none heretofore existed.

Hi All.
I am new in this group and i found it so useful place to discuss about many subjects that i want to know more.
I am a materials engineering student and also a new shooter (with air rifle) that with mixing two my favorites, means shooting and metal forming, to select my project's title (research about wadcutter pellets and the shapes and designing them).
now i also new to my project (like a baby to this world) and want some info. about anything that help me to know moe about this world.
thanks for your opinions and your helps.
i need these info:
1. factories' and industries' that produce these pellets (means WADCUTTER pellets) and their website.
2. machine systems that produce these pellets.
3. any rifle that design for left hand shooter.( i am a left hand person that shoot with right hand rifle...!)
4. methods of manufacturing pellets
and so on....
thanks all of u again

i want to aiming 10, but there is some problems. such as money for my project, little time, no enough information (that needs mechanical study that i do not have-i am a metallurgist student) and so on.
but i try to give a good research and project.
