Im looking for some front sights for my crosman rifle...
It seems most of the makers of these hooded peep sights have dovetail mounting..
Is there a 'barrel clamp' adapter that i can use so that i can use these types of sights??

Alfred:
Short answer, yes- there are "clamp on" adapters that fit on a smooth muzzle and provide a dovetail. Champion SHooter's Supply, Champion's Choice, and I believe Neal Johnson carry them . . . not sure about Pilkguns . . . there may be an issue with compatibility with your specific rifle though. The ones I have purchased were for smallbore rifles (aschutz and remington).

Pilkguns has parts for the XS-40's. check your barrel diameter and send them a note.

my outside barrel diameter is about 9.5mm-10mm

I was afraid of that- most of these adapters are for smallbore guns with larger muzzle diameters
HOWEVER!
I once saw a rig that a real "Fix It Guy" like Ed Hall would really appreciate. He had a tapered barrel that ended in a diameter way too small for the adapter- so he had a nylon sleeve that went between the adapter and the barrel.
He paid 69 cents for the sleeve (I think it was a conduit sleeve or something) at the hardware store. The sleeve was a two-piece deal (like halves of scope mounting rings) and the adapter clamped onto the sleeve.
"Did you ever have porblems about the set-up rotating (slipping) on him during handling?" I asked . . .
. . . "Well, just once, but that was before the epoxy!"
There is *always* a way!
