Co2 vs. compressed air question

There is an earlier thread regarding filling a co2 cylinder (Daisy 888) with compressed air. That's a no-no I suspect because the 888 cylinder is rated for only 1800 psi.

BUT...can a cylinder/gun designed for compressed air be filled/used with co2 without problems?

I ask this because I'm considering acquiring a FWB P70, and I have access to all the co2 i want...but here the in Nebraska...dive shops are few and far between for scuba tank refills.

The simple answer is no. You will need to modify the gun and maybe get a new cylinder. Some manufacturers do conversion kits so check with FWB before parting with any money.

Dive shops may be scarce, but paintball places seem to be far more frequent these days and many can fill compressed air tanks although they tend to work with small tanks and you might need to buy an adapter.

Other options include:

1) A hand pump (these work well especially for target shooting since you get so many shots per pump and they are good aerobic exercise).

2) Welding shops -- many have high-pressure nitrogen and can fill SCBA or SCUBA tanks from their bottles although an adapter might be required.

3) Fire departments -- SCBA tanks are used by firemen for their breathing aparatus (the BA). Some (not all!) will fill tanks. I have had no luck with this in Maryland but others report this as an option.

Do not buy an FX motorized compressor. If you must have a compressor, go to airhog.com or someplace similar -- a bit more but vastly better.

Best,

Neal Johnson has some CO2 cylinders for FWB guns. They are at http://www.nealjguns.com/ss_store/Rifle ... .html#1178 -- you could give him a call to see if these work in your P70.

Those are for the CO2 rifles and pistols. (rifle model number was a C60 or something like that) They are threaded different than the P70 rifles.

I had a shooter with the opposite issue, he had and older CO2 rifle and no access to CO2, wanted to fill it with compressed air. Won't work.
