pistol grip

Post by Guest »

Recently I found out that the pistol grip was too big for my hand. when I change to another gun with a smaller grip my trigger finger had shifted place. It went to the top of the trigger instead of the bottom where I usually placed it. Is the grip too small for me? How do i know if i have choosen a gun with the correct hand grip?

Hi

Not that this helps the original poster much, I KNOW that the pad of the forefinger goes on the trigger. I was always assuming it went in the center of the trigger. That's why they're curved (usually). Is center better? Top? Bottom?

Thanks

It is normal to place the finger approximately in the middle of the trigger but there is no hard and fast rule.

The further the finger is away from the pivot point the more you will feel any trigger creep but the trigger will feel lighter. Get closer to the pivot and the trigger will feel heavier but have less perceived movement.

Most triggers have an "index" mark of some sort. The essential thing is to reduce as many variations in the process as possible -- for my SAM, there is a groove cut across the trigger to use to position your finger in the same position each time.

My Steyr LG100 jsut has a relatively small shoe which limits the variations more automatically. There is a hole in the middle of the shoe but I am not aware of it like the groove on the SAM.

Best,

Joe
