Is it common for air cylinders to leak? Cylinders in question go with an LP10 purchased new, with pistol, last fall. I do not recall noticing any pressure drop then. Now, if cylinder is full, on or off pistol, it will leak down. Within 7-8 days it will lose about half of it's pressure based upon the gauge. These are filled from scuba tank only, no pump. It would seem that seals should hold longer than these seem to have. Pistol has shot around 5-6000 pellets since purchase.

A friend of mine had the same problem (after about 6 months if I recall correctly) on the same pistol/cylinder.

He had it replaced under warrenty with no problems since.

Sounds like they release duds every now and then.

The simple answer is no they shouldn't leak. I'd get it replaced / mended before it gets worse.

The older (pre built-in manometer) cylinders frequently leaked from the pressure indicator at the front. For those who knew what they were doing it was an easy job to seal the indicator, although this stopped it functioning. As they were not the most reliable devices ever invented it was no great loss.

I once watched the UK Steyr service agent repairing a whole batch of these cylinders. It was easy to spot, and this was confirmed by asking the owners, who used a pump for filling and who used Scuba air. On the cylinders that had been filled by manual pump the steel washers in the indicator assembly were rusty. I have heard that the latest pumps have more efficient moisture traps. I am sticking to Scuba.
