CMP Seeks Volunteer Coaches for New CMP Camp Rifle Programs. The CMP is looking for a few additional experienced position rifle coaches who are interested in serving as volunteer members of the instructional staff for two unique new CMP summer shooting camps at Camp Perry. The CMP will conduct three weeks of special position air rifle camps at Camp Perry and needs additional coaches on 12-16 June for a Navy JROTC camp and on 19-24 June for a national Sea Cadets camp. Most camp attendees will be relatively new to target shooting so the camps will be a great opportunity to get new groups of youth and their adult leaders properly introduced to the shooting sports. Contact Kathy Williams, 419-635-2141, ext. 1109 or kwilliams@odcmp.com for an application or click http://www.odcmp.org/0505/VolCoaches.asp for more information

CMP Event Photos Now Available On-Line. The CMP has photographs available for viewing on-line from the recent CMP events including the National JROTC Air Rifle Championship and the Navy JROTC Air Rifle Championships that were held in April at Ft. Benning, Georgia. To see these photos go to http://www.odcmp.com/Photos/05/Index.htm. Be sure to bookmark this page as new photos from CMP events will be posted on this web page.

CMP Scholarship Recipients. The CMP ROTC Scholarship Program annually provides one-hundred $1,000 college scholarships to high school seniors and college underclassmen who excel in rifle marksmanship, who are enrolled in JROTC or ROTC and who have excellent academic and leadership records. The CMP Scholarship Program is available to Army, Navy and Marine Corps JROTC or ROTC cadets through agreements that the CMP established with the U.S. Army Cadet Command, the U.S. Naval Education and Training Command and the USMC Training and Education Command. The list of recipients for 2005-2006 is now available online. To view this list or to learn more about how to become eligible for next year’s scholarships, go to http://www.odcmp.com/Programs/honor_roll.htm.

Distinguished Badge Lists Available On-Line. The CMP website, while offering much to shooters, is also an important archive of history for the National Matches. One of its more popular features is a list of shooters who have earned their Distinguished Badges, whether they are for service rifle, service pistol, international competition or junior three-position air rifle. The lists of Distinguished shooters can be found at http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/report_d ... Type=RIFLE. Distinguished shooters are listed by type of badge in alphabetical order. The lists are open to viewing by anyone and they are regularly updated by the CMP Competitions Department. Anyone who earned his or her Distinguished Rifleman or Distinguished Pistol Shot Badges before 1983 who is not listed is asked to provide CMP Competitions with badge information. For badge holders who are not listed, documentation showing the date the badge was earned, the badge number (if available), and the recipient’s name are needed to confirm and complete the CMP’s historical files of Distinguished shooters. If you earned your badge while in the military, the CMP needs that information also. Please contact CMP Competitions Department via e-mail competitions@odcmp.com or phone (419) 635-2141, ext. 1132.
