A former wife of mine is a veterinary ophthalmologist. Back in the 1990's while living in New Orleans, racing cyclists began using bovine derived Oxyglobin to oxygenate their muscles to increase performance. It was eventually approved for human use as Hemopure, but not for athletics. On more than one occasion other cyclists would ask if I could obtain the product for them. Of course, the answer was always no.

ROSEANNE responds:
"A Mr. William writes in from the New Hampshire Comfort Home for the Sociologically Insane, and he says . . .
"Dear Roseanne Roseannadanna, last Thursday I quit taking PET P.E.D. MEDs™ since my most recent institutionalization, and I am suffering severe withdrawal symptoms; now I'm depressed, gained weight, my face broke out, I'm nauseous, I'm constipated, my feet swelled, my gums are bleeding, my sinuses are clogged, got heart burn, I'm cranky, and I have gas. What should I do?"
"Mr. William you sound like a real attractive guy!"

Cortizone.....compete in pain or else
Insulin .... Go into diabetic shock and die or else
Prednisone ... Scores of medical uses on AND off label. Use a substitute...guess what..there are none WADA legal
Tamoxifin ..... Ladies, have an early breast cancer diagnosis ....too bad. Die.

Yes there are medical exemptions, the process is convoluted, time constrained and appeals are hard to get given the documentation, statements, testimony, other evidence and date of competition.

Most prohibitions are in AND out of competition there is testing, testing, testing required.

Am not a medical professional but I do stay at Holiday Inn Express.
I think you'll find that for shooting, the only real prohibition is beta-blockers. Just about everything else is OK. The MLAIC looked at this a few years ago. We're an odd case - too small and poor to interest the likes of WADA. And our competitors are often older - there are a lot of people on various legitimate meds.

I'll be the first to say that there really needs to be a second set of criteria for older competitors. Especially for the shooting sports.

I suspect one of you guys wrote this using a different "handle." It appears to use a NaturaI Remedy, but I could be wrong.

Read the 10 commandments of safe shooting...if it's not in there it should be. No mind altering substances while in possession of firearms...
