Leon wrote:Just ignore them when they say "No International Shipping". It's only because they do not want to go through the export process.
Explain to them that you have a dealer in Germany who will do the export and all they have to do is to send the gun to them - the problem or reluctance disappears.
Kriegeskorte will do the export to the USA for you..
Actually the dealer in Germany is highly unlikely to do it for you, because if there is a screw up it is on them. not the seller. I have tried it before, and the biggest headache for a gun store is that they have to deal with the export taxes (ie. accounting). They set up their shops to do export their own merchandize, not not for someone else. A famous gun store owner once wrote me back and explained the complication. In fact, sometimes he has to have his employees drive to the Czech republic to ship them out. I ended up asking a friend in Germany to send it to me as a gift. But that is for accessories and air pistol or rifle. When it comes to actual firearms, you will need an exporter in Germany who works for you, and then an importer from the USA to work for you. For the USA side it is possible that a regular FFL dealer can do the import for you, the law allows them to do so as long as it is not a regular occurrence. Of course there is also the matter of your dealer understand the process, sometimes it takes three to four months. A specialist importer will do the work for you, charge you a handsome fee, then send it to your FFL.
The process of purchasing a firearm from a firearm store in Europe and then import it to the United States can usually cost more than the pistol itself, since everyone in the chain will take a piece of the pie. The store, the exporter, the Government customs, the importer, and your own FFL, your Government again (DROS), and your state Government (state tax). The rule of thumb is when you see an item you like, the actual amount is twice the cost. If you get the item from an auction house, it is even more (20-25% commission). So those of you who want to purchase that very special Isch-1 prepare to empty your bank account. Finally it will take 3 to 4 months to arrive if you are not lucky.

Disagree - am in the process of doing my 18th export from Germany. a brand new, unfired Unique 96U
Almost without exception, exports were of firearms bought on egun from sellers saying that they won't ship internationally..
I've used kriegekorte in the past
www.krico.de, but am using another dealer with an export licence this time...

At least from me it is from Germany to USA. Each state has different law. Almost without fail California and Hawaii are usually the states that even domestic gun shops refuse to sell to. Partially it is the paperwork, partially it is the headache, and partially it is based on the sellers' principles (we won't sell to California because we do not agree with your state government/politicians) Simpson is one of the more well known importer for the USA. Maybe it is easier to do so from Germany to Australia? Also when you say you are doing your 18th, is it from the same seller or same few seller, or all 18 are from different sellers?

I know only a little about Australian import process. But I totally disagree with you regarding the American side AND the German side. I was using an exporter who's major business is exporting target fireams and airguns all over the world. At the end it was not economically viable for me.
Can it be done, sure.
Is it worth the trouble and expense? only for specialty items like Vincent said, that you don't care about the cost.

Interestingly sometimes I saw some items that I like to purchase and they are from Australia, but so far I have yet to find a shop in Australia that is willing to sell to the USA. It seems that the export process from the Australia is extremely strict.

PILKGUNS IS RIGHT.
I just had a dealer email me and say that he would send me the FWB model 80 for 100 euro shipping charge.
That's about $130 american dollars.
OH well its not worth the hassle to me.
If I wait long enough (maybe years) a mint diana model 75UT01 will pop up.
I probably won't be able to see through the sights by then.

It's worth it if you bundle items together and ship them as one lot. Generally the cost for shipping is the same for 1 gun as it is for 10.
You do get some amazing bargains on egun and there are quite a few American buyers snapping things up for resale in the US - including some members of this site.
Colt Pythons, Diamondbacks, Manurhins, Korths, Walther GSPs, Hammerli 208s, 280s, P240s are particularly more attractively priced there as opposed to Australia and the US.
This is the Unique 96U I've just bought - and will soon be winging its way to Australia -

I just checked out the krico.de website and found this...

I'm hoping that's just a bit of bad translating!

Thanks ! I know I paid a little too much for it, but I really, really wanted it. And it's new, unfired.
Other bargains I've picked up from egun over the last couple of years - Sig-Hammerli P240 .32, unfired 309 Euros, S&W 67 no dash, unfired, 151 Euros, S&W 17-2, unfired, 171 Euros, complete late model Walther GSP set .22 upper 25 rounds use, .32 upper unfired - 499 Euros ( see pic ), Hammerli 208 in Hammerli briefcase, unfired 312 Euros - see pic.
I'm still gnashing my teeth over others I've missed - complete Sako Triace set - .22 short, .22 long, .32. looked unfired, even the foam in the briefcase looked new - 510 Euros. Shcultz & Larsen .22 match smallbore rifle, looked new, 112 Euros.
The GSP set I picked up -
The NIB Hammerli 208
The Sako Triace I missed out on :(
This beauty just popped up -
http://egun.de/market/item.php?id=4903146 - probably will go for no more than 400 Euros.

I still maintain it's a potential business opportunity. Set up a service - for a fixed fee (which could run as high as $400-500), you'll handle the transfer. Have a dealer in Germany who receives the gun (and may do the bidding), an importer in the USA who receives it. Buyers pay in advance.

perhaps if you are buying cherry guns like you seem to be, then all is well, you are paying a premium for a premium item, , but if you are buying regular guns to be sold at regular prices, you will find a significant number of them, have "issues" that aren't known to you for months after the egun purchase by the time you congregate them at your exporter. Guns that have hidden faults, (one LP5 had no barrel, just a crudely made metal rod in its place!) really hurt your bottom line when out of 20-30 guns arriving 6 ot 7 require $100-$200 worth of parts plus your labor to get them sellable.

Old saying from over here in the UK regarding the gun trade. How do you make a million pounds? Start with two million pounds!

I'd be the first to admit that I like to post when I get a great gun. I have bought quite a few airguns and never really got stuck but that's because I usually buy from someone in the forums or pilkguns or well known sellers.
I have read some horror stories about scams and recently I posted looking for a few different guns but change after a day or two. I figure if someone has the gun I want and they want to sell they will do it right away.
I posted about three different guns in a few days and the same guy answered for everyone and the irony of it was he sent me pictures of the Diana that he had.
It was the gun I had and posted for sale a long time ago.
I know because I took them in my basement which I recognized.
If you get stuck on one from an international seller then what can you do.
I have never heard of anyone getting stung on Egun.
Seems to me like those people over there are loaded with integrity.

Its pretty hard getting anything out of the US, many manfuacturers and dealers won't attempt it.
This is an email I had from an American manufacturer last week.
"Thank you for your interest in our company. Your order placed November 20, 2013 was on Back Order, I am sorry to inform you that since your order was place, we no longer ship any of our product outside of the United States. I have removed your order from our list. I am sorry for the inconvience."
I'm not sure whats so difficult about shipping a rear sight but there you go, land of the free etc.

As long as you do not ship out an actual firearm it should be easy,

I bought the EL3000 directly from Häring GmbH Germany on Mar.20th and it is still in Germany so far. It's is the electronic target retriever-Looks like it just sat there for the last three weeks but I know some times it takes four weeks to get it. I remember buying a metal detector from a canadian seller and it took almost five weeks to get it-He was just about to refund my money and it showed up.
Getting through customs sometimes is a crap shoot.
