GWSB,

There is an exception for everything. Gary was it.

In the thousands of folks I've instructed over the past 42 years, and the hundreds I've coached during the past 26 years, it is the rare exception to find one who could use the sitting inside the ankle position. Sometime young kids use it because they have not developed the muscle to help stay in the standard position, and just collapse. We use the "low" or ankle sitting position, but they always grow out of it and go to a standard position.

With adults there have been one or two use the "low" position, but had to put their targets about 7' off the floor (just under our safety line on the indoor range), and this was useless for them when we shot USAS instead of NRA as the target is limited to about 26" off the floor (3P air rifle).

I haven't seen anyone using the low position at the 3P Air Rifle nationals (Precision) the past ten years.
