Pardini SP prices - up, up, and away!

Post by MSC »

What you get for procrastinating...

Back about 8months ago they were $1,375. Couple months back they went to $1,529. Just looked yesterday and they're now $1,846!

Seems like similiar guns have risen somewhat, but this is kinda crazy.

Not sure where you've seeing this, but I bought one (SP New Rapid Fire) about 8 months ago, and it was north of $1600 even before the great state of California got its hooks into me.

It's all a correction based on the relative value of the dollar to the Euro. We (Americans) have enjoyed cheap goods for a long time.

All the top match pistols are from European manufacturers: so when USD is going down, down, down... the price of thse pistols is going up, up, up...

About the prices of Pardini in EUrope: there a huge prices differences between countries, Pardiini is very expensive in Germany while other brands are the cheapest in Germany (even not German brands), why ????

Johnnie B:

You do realize of course why we (USA) *chose* to devalue our dollar, right?

Eventually, S&W will begin making world-class Free Pistols and Federal can start making *real* match grade 22 LR . . .

Economics can frequently be a *very* counter-intuitive exercise!

(p.s. when China floats the rhenminbi, we can let our dollar rise again. In the meantime, paying 140$US for 100$US non-deflated oil will indeed suck; along with paying inflated prices for all our imported stuff. The good news is the oil the US produces is just flying off to Asia at greatly inflated prices . . . )

Sigh.

I'd settle for S&W making a world-class SP/RF pistol. Which they are quite capable of doing.

My price reference comes from Larry's. Any other shop selling them in the U.S. (I believe) gets them from him, and the price is usually the same or slightly higher.

I agree that it's a shame S&W (for one) doesn't build a better target pistol. IMHO the M41 is a nice $700 or so pistol, but is clearly over-priced at about $1,000 now. They're basically non-adjustable, many will only feed well with only CCI Std Vel, and the trigger quality has degraded with the newer models. Still, in many Bullseye leagues, newbies are pointed to them if they want "the best american gun". So I think S&W will continue to rest on their laurels. Not to mention increase the price 10% or so a year.

Problem is, soooo many people are scared by the thought of a euro gun - "must be finicky", "must be hard to get parts". I love talking to folks about their guns, and I have to sayof all the Pardini, Hammerli, Walther guys I've talked to, they've all done nothing for repairs (outside of a firing pin) in many years of use. On the other hand, in my Bullseye league, the majority of the M41 shooters have had their guns back to smith for one problem or another.

I digress, as this is another topic/thread!

Yeah, now that I think about it, I think the base price, without the "Rapid Fire" goodies was in the $1,300s.

Meh. It's only money.

To continue your digression, I recently switched from the Walther GSP (back) to a Model 41 for bullseye. It's an older gun (s/n A484***), so I can't speak for the newer ones. But it groups well under 1" at 50 yards with a match lot of Lapua Midas, whereas my GSP was ~3" with my match lot of Eley EPS.

I don't like the feel of the 41 as much as I do the GSP, but scores are the important thing. I've moved from struggling at times to break 880 with the GSP to high 880s/pushing 890s with the 41. I think the combination of the longer sight radius and the improved 50 yard accuracy are making a big difference.
