Gehmann adjustable front sight stuck

I have no idea what this thing is like - but will a liberal dowsing with WD40 help free it ?

Is it that it will not turn or, that it will turn but there is no adjustment? If its the former you can certainly try the WD-40 or a good silicone oil and let it soak in. I had one but never had any problems with it and I wouldn't care to try and take it apart albeit I'm sure that it can be done.

Some times if the locking clamp ring that tightens the item to the fore sight tunnel is over tight, this may cause the siezure.

Find someone who has an ultrasonic cleaner and give the sight a bath in the ultrasonic cleaner. This may dislodge trapped debri in the thread system if there is any present.

If that doesn't prove successful, then try freezing the sight in dry ice for a few hours to shrink the system and then quickly remove it (with gloves) and then briskly attempt to turn the threads. I would not recommend applying any spray lubricant to the sight - it may damage the aperture system.

I suspect if it's stuck, freezing it and shrinking it will make things worse rather than better. The opposite, i.e. heating would probably be better, although you might damage any heat sensitive parts.

I no longer have the Gehmann site but I believe there are some plastic components to it. I now have an Anshutz adjustable front sight and I know for a fact that it is comprised of some plastic so, heating it could possibly prove to be disastrous!

What I've seen happen is that a reaction ocurrs between two moving parts causing the seam to fuse together.
What I did was to hold the supplied spanner wrench in a vise so the sight can engage and rest in it. I then wrapped the knurled end with a narrow width of masking tape about 10 wraps ( enough to not marr the sight when grasping with a channellock pliers. With the spanner engaged grip the taped section and turn. It should break free. Continue to rotate back and forth to lossen.
