Pellet testing

How does one one set up a vise for testing AP pellet grouping. It sounds like it would be very interesting to just see how the different pellets group. Anyone have any pictures or an explanation of how to set up the vise?

Basically the same thing I do with my FWB700 rifle anytime I decide to try a different pellet. The whole thing is sitting on an empty 55 gallon fish tank and the bench rest has fifty pounds of lead shot resting on it. You don't wish the gun or its support to move even 1mm. As for my target I simply place a clip on the bottom of it to which I add a small weight so that it does not move. Bottom line, once you are certain that everything is secure as possible you're all set to go.

I think that all would depend upon what type of shooting your going to be doing. If its just 10M then there would be no need to test them at a further distance. One pellet, brand, weight may be just the ticket for your particular rifle at 10M but may prove not to be as good when shooting it further with a different pellet. I've narrowed down my particular brand of pellet to one but I still want to try just one other pellet to satisfy myself. After that.....I'm finished with it. By the way. When I test a pellet I never shoot it at a target but at the other (blank) side of it as it makes no sense as your only interested to see if you can place 5 shots or so into one hole. As for "targeting" in your rifle as to site adjustments well of course that would be a whole different matter.
