TOZ Sight Blades

I like the 5.5 mm front sight but none of the rear sights seem wide enough. Has anyone else had this problem? Have you widened the rear notch? Does anyone use the round notch?

You can make one while saving the original blades.
I made 16 of them out of one credit card.

I've widened the notch on other guns, but not my TOZ, yet. I did have to level the top of the front sight on mine. I wouldn't hesitate widening it if I felt it necessary, but I would try to make the cuts tapered wider at the front side so the outline of the cut would appear crisp.

As to the U shaped sight, that's what I'm currently using and like the concept. It seems to more clearly allow for alignment consistency while staying visually stationary on the front sight. I regard bouncing the eye to different portions of the sights as detrimental to the shot. A static view of the entire alignment is far better.

A friend of mine has made an adapter which allows for the use of the Pardini rear sight blade (the width-adjustable one) on the TOZ. This works quite well, but isn't a cheap solution because the Pardini rear sight blade is pretty pricey. But it certain is an elegant solution!

Hi Mark,

I recently realized that an adapter plate is not necessary to use the Pardini adjustable blade on a TOZ. The Pardini blade can just bolt directly to the TOZ rear sight blade carrier. The only problem involved in doing this is that it makes the rear sight higher by about 2mm. If you shoot a low sub six hold, or if you can arrange to make your front sight higher somehow, you're good to go - no adapter needed (= much less expense).

Fred - I guess we're getting into the range of variability in TOZ construction. Mine won't allow the Pardini sight to mount directly as the screw holds don't line up. Ah, the joys of free pistols. Now we know why they're called "free pistols", ie they're free of the need to conform to any standard, so each one's pretty much unique! ;-)

I can't visualize how the screw holes cannot line up. All the TOZ rear sight blade carriers I have seen have horizontal 2mm slots for the blade attachment screws, so there is nothing to line up (within a very wide range). Please explain.
