I hope he wasn't referring to SASS Cowboy Action Shooters. They've got the warmest, most congenial membership of all the shooting sports. Probably because you can't take yourself too seriously, and still be able to dress up like a cowboy!
If it wasn't for CAS, I would have had to stop competetive shooting altogether, for the five years it took to repair the damage to my eyes due to diabetic retinopathy.
During this time, I made many friends, which wasn't the case in my more "serious" target shooting disciplines.
