10M Range lighting question.

Post by Visitor »

ISSF rules (2005 6.3.15.4) ) state that the Targets must have a minimum 1500 lux illumination and the entire range area 300 lux minimum.

This could be accomplished with a focussed spot lamp that lite the target face only and none of the surrounding area.

Is the intent of the rule that only the target face needs this light level and any closely surrounding area only needs 300, or does the surrounding area need to recieve the 1500 lux of light?

It is acceptable within the rules, if questionable from the shooting point of view, to have the targets to be at 1500 lux and the surrounding area to be at 300 lux. With gooseneck type individual lights it would be easy to achieve.

Here in the UK at Bisley the Sius Ascor targets and lights are actually set back into individual cupboards built into the wall with doors to allow them to be locked away. The target light does not therefore illuminate the wall between the targets.
