Lapua Rapid Fire

Hello,
I am a Rapid Fire shooter (a very poor Rapid Fire shooter....).
Have someone of you tried the new Lapua "Rapid Fire" cartridges?
There are no info on the web about these cartridges (nor on Lapua web site), the only thing I find on the web is about their speed: 270 m/sec. That's all.

Can you give me some info about this 'mysterious' Lapua ?

They are very similar to for example Lapua Pistol King, about 5 m/s slower.

IMO, totally meaningless product because it so similar to Pistol King.

I have shot both the Lapua “Rapid” cartridge and the Pistol King today in the New SP1 electronic. The model I shoot has the slightly heavier slide and optimised for Standard (and Sport) pistol. The Lapua “Rapid” has noticeably softer recoil and lessens the displacement of the pistol when shooting standard pistol compared to Pistol King. The rapid is some 40% lower cost than Pistol King.

You may be interested to know that the S&K OSP25 is identical to the Lapua “Rapid” ammunition. Only the packaging is changed and may be available at a lower cost in some countries than the Lapua boxed product.

Have you checked all three brands of ammo to see if they meet the velocity standard out of the SP1 Electronic? Is your pistol the SP1 or the SP1 RF? Do they have the same length barrel?

My .22 unit is the SP1. I do not shoot rapid fire with it. If it were available to me in the UK for regular use, yes, I really liked ISSF rapid but with occasional use overseas, I mainly shoot centre fire and also standard pistol, hence the .22 SP1.

I am told the barrel is the same in both units, only the slide is lighter in the rapid fire pistol and that the forward weights are by default heavier. We really need somebody with both units to compare!

I was also advised that the Lapua/S&K was OK with the Pardini as they actually used this model in the ammunition factory for testing. This makes sense, but again, any inside information is always good. We really need to see how these fair at World Cup matches.

The barrel is different in the chamber to reduce recoil.

Thank you for the velocity test.
I actually shoot with the Pardini SP1 Rapid Fire, bought in 2005, October.
I don't know any SK ammunition, I'm going to 'googling' for it to gather some info on these cartridge. I don't want to pay too much for ammunitions, so these S&K can be OK.

it is very obvios that your and my experiences regarding the Lapua RF differs, not only a lot, but very very much. I could hardly feel any difference when doing a side by side test of rapid fire and pistol king, therefor the the measurements after that.

I have lot # 08340/11374
I'm starting to think that I have got the wrong ammo inside the LRF box?

Any comments regarding my measurement, does it feel wrong compared to your experience?

I find this discussion to be extremely interesting. I would like to see a comparison here that would provide contrasting information for Lapua RF, RWS 250, as well as any of the Eley brands. I train with Eley Target Pistol and like it very much, and so far have had no luck in getting RWS250 in this country. Before I go to purchase my next case of ammo it would be very nice to see a side-by-side comparison of the various ammunitions in different pistols. I think Par is showing us some very good data with his comparison between the Sako and the OSP as the velocity of some ammunition may be more susceptible to changes in barrel length than are other brands.

Ones I'd like to see tested (sorry, but with our grey winter weather here there's not enough light for me to use my chronograph to test for myself!)

Lapua Standard Club (my personal experience shows this to be the "softest" ammo when shot from a 152mm barrel)
