Where to shoot in Southern Indiana

Post by Bekele »

I am looking to get into 10m pistol or rifle competition or possible FT. I live in French Lick Indiana. Anyone know of where there are clubs or events in Southern Indiana or Northern KY (Louisville)?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hello Jeff!

Yes. Check out www.hhrp.org. (Hoosier Hills Rifle & Pistol Club) We're in Columbus and I will again be holding monthly AP and AR matches November thru March. The Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol Club, with an indoor range in Georgetown, held AP matches and the state championship last winter, but it looks like they may only host the state championship next April. Finally, the Marion County Fish & Game Club in Indianapolis runs some FT matches thru the year and some informal AP matches on every Saturday that doesn't conflict with the matches in Columbus. You'll have to google the other two clubs for their websites as I don't have the addresses handy. Contact me at leybourne@sbcglobal.net and I'll add you to my mailing list.

There will be 10 meter air pistol and air rifle matches fired concurrently at the Southern Indiana R&P Club in Georgetown, IN on Oct. 22, Nov. 26, Dec. 31, Jan 28, Feb. 25, and Mar. 25. Shooting begins at 9 a.m. If necessary, a second relay will begin at 11 a.m. These are NRA Approved matches. We only have 10 firing points, so reservations are encouraged. For reservations or more information contact Charlie C. Davis, P.O. Box 11, Ramsey, IN 47166-0011. Phone (812) 347-2613

French Lick is an absolutely terrific place. Go to visit there by chance this summer while visiting friends in Indy. Like anywhere else, may be different to the folks that are there on a more permanent basis, but the impression left on me was pretty grand. CraigE

Oh yeah, it's nice to have the information on the clubs since we may well be there again soon for a visit. thanks!

To anyone who was turned down for the air gun matches shot yesterday, 10/22/05, in Georgetown, IN hosted by the SIRPC, I have been assured that this will not happen again. We ended up with a vacant shooting position this time, so the match directors have assured us that there will be a second relay even if there is only one shooter to shoot it. There were some good scores posted in both air rifle, as well as, air pistol. The level of competition is there, so hope to see more of you next time, Saturday, November 26, 2005.
