Aeron Air Pistols Anyone?

Post by jlochey »

I am looking at getting my first PCP Air Gun and like the Aeron ACZ-101 Spider. Anyone use the Aeron line of guns?

I'm also unclear of the best way to use a PCP gun. Do most people use a compressor or a hand pump? I'd lean towards the hand pump.

Can you leave the gun "under pressure" when you are not shooting it?

PCP seems a bit of a pain, does anyone compete with a CO2 gun that they would recommend?

1. Shortly before his untimely death, Don Nygord had started to import the Aeron pisols - B101 not in production at that time only the B98 and B99. He had some very good things to say about them including high marks for their quality control. and value for money. 2. You will get plenty of argument over this, but I have found a scuba tank to be the best source of compressed air if for no other reason than its dryness. 3. Any well built PCP can be stored fully charged just about forever. 4. I found CO2 to be less convenient what with the chilling / weighing of cylinders.

I have a B97 Chameleon which is a CO2 gun. It uses 12g disposable cartridges. I am very happy with it. I shoot about once a week, so I didn't want to buy/rent a bulk fill tank. I can shoot a 60 shot match plus 5-10 sighters on a cartridge. The instruct. booklet says 60 shots per cartridge. I buy the cartridges in packs of 40 which works out to about 70 cents per.
The gun is solid and accurate. The sights and trigger are not as sophisticated as a Morini or Steyr but I was only a third of the price. The trigger is a little "creepy" but is very predictable.

I had a Pardini K2/co2 before this. My scores are averaging about 15 points more with the Aeron. For me, I find that it points easier I believe because the grip fits different and I guess better. The balance also works better for me.

The Spider looks like a more mainstream design, making it a little easier to load.

I would highly recommend an Aeron.

I bought a B98 from Nygord and it is the best value in a PCP anywhere.

Properly loaded it will drive all shots thru one hole at 10m and shoots as fast as you can pull the trigger.

I love it. And it takes Morini air tanks so I use a Morini cylinder which puts more weight out front.

I highly recommend it. It is half the price of a Steyr.

Here is mine dressed up for Silhouette shooting.
