olympic rapid fire shooting

did any body tried recently 2 calculate his average score in the new
olympic rapid fire shooting for five targets on every time
the 8sec and 6sec and finaly the horror 4 sec with the new regulations
i mean with the new calibre 22 long rifle instead of the 22 short rifle
with open grip and triger 1000g?
kindly inform me so i can calculate how much does the score drops and
of course with what gun model..................thx

In the '50s, at Perry,you could shoot the LR pistol you had brought for the 3-gun matches in RF and even, if you wanted the practice, in Free.More to the point,hits were counted first. 60 hits beat 59 hits regardless of score. Shoot a 590 with a miss and wind up on page 3 of the results bulletin LOL

By the look of those results scores haven't dropped by that much - perhaps no more than ten points (??), perhaps a little more for some shooters. Looking at them in detail, the top scorers 4 sec strings are almost the same as the 6 and 8's.

well guys i shoot it with the hammerli 280..not a bad gun after all
it perform well if u have a good strong grip with a finger that knows
how 2 sqeeze the triger.........u will score 9 or tens in the 8 and 6 seconds
i also use a good kind of amunition elly tenex gold but i prefer 2 use the
elly pistol match it reduce the recoil a little which helps in the 4 sec series
my score is between 550 and 560 over all
i've been training for 8 monthes till now and i hope i can increas that one day
when i start 2 handle my mistakes during shooting

I found 300 rounds of some ancient Eley pistol match (well a good 12 years old) and have used it up for short distance training with my free pistol (the accuracy at 50m was not at all good in my Morini!). Admittedly, the CM84e with compensator dampens recoil significantly but this ammunition is exceptionally soft. I am surprised it cycles a 280 adequately and guess the later 2-stage springs are not installed.

I do recall some expert GBR standard pistol shooters using a heavy barrelled FAS made reference to this ammunition but also recall mention of lighter springs?

I wonder if the ISSF ruling on minimum velocity is satisfied with this brand for a variety of modern .22 standard pistols?

well i had a better score with the RWS ammunition........but it has
a stronger recoil which calls for a stronger concentration in the
4 sec and a much fermer grip 2 absorb it's recoil
also the FEDERAL had the same recoil as the RWS but it was much accuret with me...any how the rest of the team use the famous walther GSP
instead of the walther OSP

Don't you believe it Paul, standard springs worked fine. They gave a nice slow, progressive recoil.

You can still shoot Free with a standard pistol, as long as you load singly. I shot a 90 something target with an aw93 in a Free match one day, of course I went to shambles after that.
