I took a rubber stopper and carved out two pieces that fit into the grove behind the cocking slide. When these two little rubber pieces are in the grove they prevent the release of gas when you dry fire. The little curved metal rod is designed to put tension on the little rubber pieces to keep them from coming dislodged.

I follow a very simple process: I cut a little piece of rubber from a bicycle tyre, of about 35mm. by 6 mm., one end finished off pointy. The idea is to insert it in front of the hammer after cocking, in order to prevent it from hitting the valve when dislodged. It works a treat and it takes 5 minutes to make!!
