Rapid Fire events

Post by Mk4Zero »

I checked ISSF website and am having a hard time finding events for Rapid Fire

USAShooting website doesn't seem to bring anything up except for a training event in Feb earlier this year

Where do I compete in Rapid Fire style that's hosted at the Olympics, particularly in the USA?

Thanks,

Mark

I'm in the UK, no rapid fire events as the live round pistols are illegal. Which is a pity as I think I'd be very good at it. At my range I shoot my pistol at 50 meters for fun, and hit the target.

Unfortunately, I don't think they allow air pistol rapid fire either.

In the USA, I ask your local university sports pistol squad, see if you can train with them, they may also know about competitions. You have the ISSF world cup competitions which have rapid fire. 2025 in Cairo, Egypt, from what I understand. But you have to qualify some how.

The rumor has it that Rapid Fire is going away as an Olympic event.

Very few ranges have the setup for it, so it's not very popular in the US.

Just read that thread, will be a surprise if rapid fire goes. But may make 25m pistol more accessible. Hopefully will be an air pistol event so I can do this in the UK at my range.

Five target setups are also hard to find in Europe , and most clubs that have them almost never use them nor allow members to set them up regularly for training. The rapid stages 25m pistol and standard pistol are more available for training, as they only use one target.

Oddly enough, where I live in Australia I have two clubs offering rapid fire competition and if I am prepared to drive about 2 hours there are another two clubs offering the discipline. One of the local clubs hasn't been offering the discipline recently as they also conduct other ISSF disciplines but they are quite happy for me to set up on another range and shoot rapid fire. The club has two ranges with turning targets.
