K12 Junior - Is velocity adjustment needed?

Post by swilso »

I just purchased a new K12 Junior for my wife to join me and take up the sport of 10m air pistol. I use a full length K12.
Hers is noticeably louder, we are both shooting the same RWS R10 7gr pellets. Guessing hers shoots them faster than a full length K12?

I’m probably splitting hairs here, but does a K12 junior need a velocity adjustment? And is there any point or benefit for a beginner shooter in doing so?

I purchased a chronograph and it’s on the way to help with my centrefire reloads but will use it to check the velocity between the two K12 pistols.

No is the simple answer.
The factory zeros them after build to give the best setting. I shoot a "junior! and you will note the sight base is still the same as the Morini, it is a great pistol for lighter people.
If you want to hear a loud short have a listen to the LP2 short that really has a crack.

Longer barrels on CO2/PCP airguns produce increased muzzle velocity and energy transfer.
It takes more time for the pressurized air to accelerate the pellet down the barrel which generates higher velocities. Since you are talking about airpistols, there is not a significant difference in muzzle velocity.

Cheers for replies. I haven't adjusted it and left as is, just curious, and as kevinweiho said the longer barrel produced higher velocity. For entertainment purposes I put both K12J and K12 full length through a chronograph with the below results.

R10 7gr 4.49
K12J: Average was 555.39 FPS
K12: Average was 586.4 FPS

R10 8.2gr 4.49
K12J: Average was 505.82
K12: Average was 526.8
