.22 Pistols with Fully Adjustable Grips?

Post by JRV »

Does any .22 in the market have an adjustable grip comparable to the Steyr air pistols?

I recently took a chance on refitting an old Morini grip to my Steyr air pistol—when all was said and done and the wood putty was carved up, I had decreased the angle of grip rake by about 10 degrees and moved the muzzle about five degrees laterally towards my strongside. The adjustments are made using small screwheads that butt against the grip frame mount and stud.

Now, when I lift, my sights are automatically aligned with no effort. My hold consistency is improved and my scores increased in practice matches by twenty points—with no additional effort or money.

Do any current or discontinued .22s on the market feature this level of customization?

If you put in the effort, you can get similar results with the stock Feinwerkbau, Hammerli, Pardini or Walther grips. You can also get Rink, Nill or Horton grips that you can customize 6 ways from Sunday

Rink, then Nill grips are my favorite route to take for upgrading grips on Hi-Standard, Trailside, and S&W.. Ordering on-line is a good option, though in-person measuring would be best. I’ve never morified grips to fit a different weapon.

IMHO the .22 that has air pistol like grip adjustments is Matchguns MG2 and Walther SSP . in MG2 you you can set grip angle with 2 screws (one for making barrel point up/down and a second to point left right). in SSP the grip is on a sphere so you have to be careful how you put the grip back (if you take it off). for this reason the grip Rink makes for the ssp has extra small screws so the grip always come to the same place.
