NY's - Proposed Hand gun user fees

Post by Bob »

Again this year the Governor of NY has shown he is turning his back on the law abiding sportsman in the state and becoming a California wanna be. His new proposal to raise money is a User fee for handgun owners. $100 every 5 years and $25 for each addition or deletion, this is over and above the local fees (which he took the cap off of).
His ban on MBTE, following California's lead has all ready led to a 14 cent increase i our gas prices.
We are one of only a few states that do ballistic fingerprinting for every new handgun purchased and this is the same Governor who wants to serialize every bullet sold in the state.
If you live in New York call or write your Representative's and tell them enough is enough and not to support the Governors proposed new user fees.

In addition to the Guv's proposed gun fee---this would be added to my county license fee (Nassau) for five years the usurous amount of $200. My county has the highest handgun fee in the entire state---no the whole northeast. If you think that Gov. Pataki is bad you should meet the Nassau County (Democrat controlled) legislature. We estimated our handgun fee increased by 700+% in one money grabbing fell swoop. No other license fee increased by more than 10%---do you smell "anti-gun" ???????

Right on Bob.... But I'm getting the feeling our Gov has joined them. Between the fee increases and property & school taxes that are going up about 20% each year I can't afford to live in this state much longer. The good news is if I move to Arizona, where my brother, niece and some frinds live I could shoot more often :-)

Hi
I moved out of Illinois in 1983 to take a job in Kansas, I've also lived in Alabama. Won't be going back to the Daley land to live. What do you think the chances are of America being a balkanized country, gunners in the center, anti's on the coast? I don't go to the east coast at all, and don't talk much to the Californians much when I'm there. Are the populations there more than 60% anti or what?
In the last copy of Shooting Sports, the club that one 3-P, beating the US Army Marksmanship team, is an east coast group which surprised me.

BobZ here is the link to the local paper and article this past weekend. We've had something in the paper everyday since he did his proposed budget about a two weeks ago. http://www.pressconnects.com/tuesday/sp ... 5224.shtml

Most of the opposition lives within 20 miles of I-95 on the East Coast, I-5 on the West Coast, or the Chicago Loop. The problem is, they don't get out into the rest of the country.
Fumigate those strips, and even places like California, New York, and Maryland would be quite liveable.
