removing firing pin of walther gsp
Hi. I can't seem to find a topic regarding the removal/replacement of the firing pin of the old Walther GSP. A friend tried to dislodge the retainer (?) pins on the bolt but had a difficult time doing so. I understand from my old Walther that one pin goes one way and the other goes another. Which is which?
Thanks
Ron
Thanks

Re: removing firing pin of walther gsp
So nobody knows how to remove the firing pin from a GSP??
Re: removing firing pin of walther gsp
I've done it, but it was many year ago. I do recall that the pins were pretty stubborn, but I don't recall that there were any tricks to it besides having to use more force than I was really happy about.. Getting them back in so they didn't stick up was also a challenge.

@Gwhite: Thanks for the info. I busted 3 punches already thinking I was doing something wrong.
Re: removing firing pin of walther gsp
I think I broke a punch in the process as well. I have no idea why they made it so difficult.

Greetings,
Review the exploded diagram prior to work.

The pins are TAPERED. Drive them out from left to right. Secure the bolt in a small padded vise.
Ideally, you will use the NEW pins that came with the firing pin repair kit. If no pins were supplied, carefully reuse the old ones.
After installation, double check that the pins do not protrude binding on the housing.
Cheers,
Dave

Left to Right means that the Boltface is facing away from me (just like a car)? Dave, make me like you...
Re: removing firing pin of walther gsp
Greetings,
Yes, the extractor end is facing forward. Just as if you were preparing to fire a ten.
In the past, I have clamped the bolt in a small machinist's vise for support.
It may help to apply some Kroil prior to removing the tapered pins.
Also, "trust; but, verify". Examine the pins with a magnifying glass to be sure the small end is on the left.
Cheers,
Dave
