Rifle/Pistol Junior Olympic State Host Sites Selection and Competition Information

Post by USA Shooting »

The Rifle and Pistol State Junior Olympic (JO) Host Site list is live NOW on the USA Shooting website (https://www.usashooting.org/7-events/njosc).

A few JO competition reminders:
-Please refer to the State JO host site list in order to find a suitable state JO to compete in.
-Athletes are only eligible to win the State Champion title in their home state.
-Athletes can receive an invitation to National JO Championships by meeting the automatic scores at the State JO competition or winning the State JO title.
-Additional invitations will be sent out for the National JO Championships based on scores and junior categories until range capacity is met

The junior categories are now titled U21 (J1), U18 (J2), and U15 (J3). These categories are based on a junior’s age on the first day of competition. Your age category may change from your State JO to the National JO Championships. Because age categories may change, we are using one cover-all automatic scores for each event, which are:

AIR RIFLE: 580

SMALLBORE RIFLE: 575

AIR PISTOL: 550

SPORT PISTOL: 540

Invitations to the National JO Championships will be determined by and sent out using these new junior categories which are based on the first day of each discipline’s (Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun) National JO Championship.

USA Shooting still needs hosts for the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada, and Oklahoma. Interested clubs should reach out to competitions@usashooting.org so that all juniors across the country can compete in their home state.
