I have a older (1991) 1827 Biathlon with a 1 piece front sight. Does anyone know the thread size for the "Clamp Ring" that hold in the insert in place?
I have been using this rifle in the summer to shoot small-bore silhouette leagues (what a hoot), I am looking to fabricate a Eagle Eye type of aperture. I currently have one taped on the back of the sight so I can see those stupidly small targets.
It is smaller than M18, none of my Anschutz, Centra or Gerham filters/lens will fit. My small-bore rifles M18 disk inserts fit in place of the steel insert, but nothing will thread on.

OK, how about this.
Does anyone know of a machinist or gunsmith that I could send my front sight to and they would drill and tread the back to accept a standard 18mm lens?

Re: 1827 front sight threads
Hey Shooterer,
I tried to see if the retaining ring for my air rifle would thread into the 1827 I have (which is the same generation as yours). The ring fit, but wouldn't thread because the threads on the biathlon rifle were finer than those on the air rifle.

Nordic Marksman has the parts on their website

Thanks for the replies
I am not looking for the Clamp Ring, I was looking for information on what the thread size was. Now I am going to go the modified sight route.

You might give Altiusguns a shout, I'm sure Mark could tell you the thread size and what would work for an eagle eye.
