We should see more of it, hope it is not a career ender for the principle. Are things possably getting better with Arnold as Gov?: Our local up and coming Southern California shooter Sean Ragay, recently named a member of the USA Shooting National Development Team, is receiving public recognition at his High School ... with this marquee congratulating him on his winning Gold in Air and Free pistol at our state Jr. Olympics.
: Can you imagine, in Kalifornia, "PISTOL" being officially mentioned on a Public School grounds in a Positive manner! :-)

WOW, here in Kansas where we actually hunt and stuff like that, I believe that any display of a firearm in a public school is cause for 180 day suspension. I understand that this includes things like an NRA Shirt, so this is really a great deal.

It's a felony offense (minimum one year jail time) in Kalifornia to display a firearm in public school premises or its immediate area unless you are a law enforcement officer.
In a State and school district that penalize anything related to guns and enforce a zero-tolerance in guns (including wearing t-shirts depicting firearms), this young athlete's school took a bold move to acknowledge his achievements by openly congratulating him in its school marquee. I hope that what he is doing will help promote our olympic shooting sports and inspire other young olympic hopefuls and instill an understanding on responsible gun ownership among some anti-gun do-gooders and tree-hugging Kalifornians. Even the dreaded word "pistol" appeared on the marquee. His teachers have been quietly supporting him, but an open acknowledgment is a leap forward for our olympic shooting sports (pistol, rifle, shotgun).
Kalifornia is saturated with a lot of anti-gun activists (specially here in conservative Orange County) and I'm pretty sure some of them are calling and knocking on the principal's office by now demanding to turn off the marquee.

Truly commendable. I am sure that Sean's demeanor and attitude played a significant part in the schools decision to publically acknowledge his accomplishments on it's marquee. It was a bold move and I want to thank the Principal of the school for doing this.
The Olympics are the most significant sporting event in the world. The Summer Games are being held in Athens this year. We should all use this fact to promote pistol competition as a OLYMPIC sport. The California Legislature (which includes many anti-gun proponents) has passed, with consensus, the Olympic Pistol Exempt List. Currently here are 110 pistols listed.
All states should have similar exemptions. It is achievable. We should all become pro-active in legislation and promoting our sport. After all, it is part of the Olympics.

"Tree Hugging Kalifornians" ....... Funny Response

Post by EfrenR »

Regular TT contributor Mako sent me the following email in response to the term "some ....tree hugging Kalifornians" I used on my TT (follow-up)posting. I'm posting this with no malice aforethought nor offense intended against TT ladies . . . . .

"Tree Hugger
A lady from California, who was a tree hugger and a vociferous anti-hunter, purchased a piece of timberland.

There was a large tree on one of the highest points in the tract. She wanted to get a good view of the natural splendor of her land so she started to climb the big tree.

As she neared the top, she encountered a spotted owl that attacked her.

In her haste to escape, the lady slid down the tree to the ground and got many splinters in her crotch.

In considerable pain, she hurried to the nearest country doctor. She told him what an environmentalist and anti-hunter she was, and how she came to get all the splinters.

The doctor listened to her story with great patience and then told her to go into the examining room and he would see if he could help her.
She sat and waited for three hours before the doctor reappeared.
The angry lady demanded, "What took you so long?" He smiled and then told her, "Well, I had to get permits from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management before I could remove old-growth timber from a recreational area and I'm sorry, but they all turned me down."
