The high level shooters I know use tennis shoes.

My pal Arnie Vitarbo recommends "coaches shoes."

Rover is 100% correct - everyone's in cheap tennis shoes. I'd shoot barefoot, but against the rules. Shoes with no heel & the THINEST sole possible.

Hence, for the discriminating:

HANWAG Mountain shoes (if you can find them).

Yes, the Gorillas are also my coaches. Named Whey-Hai and Tu-Lo, these chinese low-land gorillas are the confidence builders any shooter needs & the psyche-factor for the opponents - especially when you engage them in conversation mid-match!

Apart from Whey-Hai and Tu-Lo, another option is weight-lifting shoes. These have non-spongy soles and hard heals (wood or HD polyurethane). They provide stable contact with the ground. They usually come with a Velcro strap across the instep but this is not needed for shooting and are a nuisance so I cut mine off. These shoes can be had through the internet for a lot less than the Sauer or Adidas shooting shoes. Bought my second set of Reebok shoes from California for some U$50 odd. Previous pair were Korean DoWin(?) bought from Hungary (but got a size too small hence the Reeboks).I’m told that proper (professional) skate boarding shoes work well too.

And I thought I had psych out shoes.

I would also like to shoot barefoot, but it’s not allowed and when shooting .22 rf the brass can be a bit hot. These are the next best thing to barefoot and have the added advantage that the shooters next to you will spend half the session looking at your feet and not their target 😉

So perhaps you're put-off by the "COW KNEELING ROLL" too?
