Now available in Pyramydair and Airgun Depot in 8.02 gr. and 8.26 gr. tins. Not as cheap as RWS Basics, but they are "match" pellets!

A guy at the range the other day had a couple tins that he got from AofA. Didn’t get to shoot any but noticed they had the screw on lid, which I like. HardAirMag calls them “practice and plinking” pellets, not Match. $10 is almost twice what you can get RWS Basics for, so there’s that. Will probably get a couple tins to weigh and check velocity anyway. Wonder why they don’t offer the light weight 7.33 grain?

The RWS Basic tins of 500 pellets are drying up, if you can still find them for $5-$6, then stock up!

They are essentially “match pellets”, since they’re not individually sorted by hand, they call them “practice and plinking” pellets…

Report back on their weight consistency and grouping.

RWS Basics drying up? I haven't seen that.

What HAS happened is that the US importer is selling tins of only 300 pellets.

Neal Stepp of ISS is importing and selling the "old" 500 tins of Basics.

However, I have been very pleased with JSB pellets.

Received a tin of the 8.02 and a couple hundred of the 8.26 JSB "Simply" pellets.
Weight sorted 50 of the 8.02's with 40 being 8.00 to 8.09 and the other 10 being just a bit heavier (4) or lighter (6).
The 8.26's showed 42 at 8.20 to 8.29 with 7 a touch lighter and 1 heavier.

Velocity testing using Caldwell G2 Chronograph with Steyr EVO 10 standard barrel at 1.5' from muzzle.

Weight sorted 8.00-8.04, 10 shots:
480 to 486 fps
ES: 6
SD: 1.7
MV: 486 fps

8.02's from the tin, 10 shots:
478 to 488 fps
ES: 10
SD: 3.0
MV: 487

Weight sorted 8.25-8.29, 10 shots:
472 to 479 fps
ES: 7
SD: 2.5
MV: 478 fps

8.26's from the tin, 10 shots:
478 to 485 fps
ES: 7
SD: 2.3
MV: 483 fps

The new JSB's are pretty impressive IMO, weight and quality seems very consistent, packaging is excellent. As a price comparison I put 4 of each in my cart at PA, with the "discount" subtotal was $59.94, so $7.50/500 (before shipping). Same deal on the Match nets $13.49/500 so the Simply's are much cheaper. Note that ISS sells the Match Lightweight and Heavyweight for $12.45 for 1-9 qty and $11.20/10. The Simply's are not listed at this time.

All the tins I have seen (8) purchased from AofA have the new screw on lid (contrary to the HAM article linked by the OP), and the foam pad for protection during shipping. Head size is not an option like the more expensive Match and Premium Match.

I do not have a means to do precision accuracy testing but I shot both thru my LP50 at pistol silhouettes offhand from 10 to 20 yards. Plenty of knockdown power and accuracy seemed as good as others pellets I have used.

Accuracy offhand at 10M with the EVO also was consistent with others (RWS Basic, Meisterk, JSB Match 7.33 & 7.72).

Would be good to see these precision accuracy tested with both 10M pistol and rifle.
