Trap Mixed Team Browning/Burrows Wins Silver at World Cup
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (March 20, 2019)
The Trap Mixed Team of Kayle Browning (Wooster, Arkansas) and Brian Burrows (Fallbrook, California) won silver today at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Acapulco, Mexico.
The duo set a Qualification World Record of 149 targets, with Browning shooting a personal best of 75/75 targets (in Trap Mixed Team, each athlete shoots 75 targets). Once in the Final, Browning/Burrows hit 43/50 targets to win the silver medal. The Australian team of Laetisha Scanlan/James Willett won the gold medal with 46 hits and the Great Britain team of Kristy Barr/Matthew John Coward-Holley won bronze with 34.
“In the Final, we chose to put myself shooting first with all the men because nobody would expect that, and the guys would be rattled to not lose to a girl!” said Browning. “The lighting got rough towards the end and it was hard to see the targets, but we did our best and was able to come out with silver.”
“I was fortunate to have a great partner for the Mixed Team event,” said Burrows. “This is my third final of three World Cups in Acapulco and second silver medal here. It’s safe to say I like Mexico.” Burrows won an individual Men's Trap silver medal in 2013.
The other American team of Aeriel Skinner (Jackson, California) and 2008 Olympic gold medalist Glenn Eller (Katy, Texas/U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit) finished in 31st place with 140 targets.
