I really enjoy shooting my IZh-35m. One problem I have is the anxiety of the extractor breaking or flying into the great unknown. I finally got off of my butt and made one.
Most of the info I used can be found in this thread:

I cut the part on a CNC Horizontal boring mill using a #2 center drill, a 5/64 twist drill, and a 2mm 3-flute carbide endmill. The stock used was a flat washer for a 5/8 bolt. I haven't installed it yet, but the dimensions and appearance are correct. Before anyone asks, I'm not sure if I will make these for anyone but myself, but what I will do is post the program that can be used on any machine that uses a FANUC controller. The next hurdle is the plunger/spring assembly, but after this I think I can get there from here.
P.S.
I have to chuckle a little. This is the smallest part I think I've ever made. The machine I run has 2 meters of X stroke and the parts I run are often 1000lbs or more.

Bear with me. I left my thumb drive at work and won't be back until Monday. I should add that only the profile was done on the mill. The angles and radii were added by hand work, maybe 45 minutes worth.fc60 wrote:Greetings,

Here is the part while still on the machine. You can see the small retainer left over. The part was cut away with a bandsaw.

What is the hardness of your donor material? Will it need to be heat treated?

The washers are not hard, but they are tough. I will try it as is and determine if hardening is needed.

That extractor is very similar in appearance to the ones on the Ruger mk I/II/III.
I don't know if the measurements match, but they look almost equal.

Since this washer is mild steel, you will only be able to harden it by case hardening.

Remember that, on a blowback pistol, the extractor doesn't do very much apart from acting as a pivot to throw the empty case away from the gun.
It certainly doesn't "extract" the case during the firing sequence.
I once shot half of a match in a European Championships without an extractor on a FAS602, without a problem. I know that many others have similar experiences.

As promised, here is the NC code for a FANUC controller, though the tool paths will work for many different machines.
