European Material Specification Help

Post by fc60 »

Greetings,

Somewhere on this forum is a/are person/persons that knows the answer to my question.

I have a piece of material that is marked "38NCD4". What is it's composition? Is there an American equivalent?

Adding icing to the cake, what is the heat treat process? Both normal quench and "Austempering" potential?

Cheers,

I Googled "38NCD4" and came up with several hits all related to N-ion implanted steel. Not being a metallurgist, I didn't read any further. It does appear that there are a number of articles available that my help answer your question.
