Hello Everyone!
I've just became the proud owner of a Hammerli AR20 Pro, 10m Match Rifle.
It is one of the most comfortable & accurate rifles I've owned.
I have one question about it which I'm hoping one of you can answer for me.
I would like to fit an adjustable iris to the rear sight but I'm unable to remove the existing iris.
Is it possible to remove the iris on the Hammerli AR20 & if so are there any special tools I need?
I thought I could just unscrew it but it will not move at all.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Re: Hammerli AR20 Rear Sight
My AR20 came with a Walther Basic Competition rear sight.
The iris screws out counter clockwise.
Some of the CMP pictures for the AR20 show a different rear sight, of which I have no experience.

Re: Hammerli AR20 Rear Sight
Hi Jimro,
Many thanks for your reply.
I've tried unscrewing the iris as with a normal rear sight but this one will just not move & I don't want to force it too much.
This is the type of sight that came with it.
Many thanks for your reply.

Re: Hammerli AR20 Rear Sight
That's the same as I have, Walther makes an extended diopter tube to fit that model, yours must just be screwed in very tight.

Re: Hammerli AR20 Rear Sight
I had exact the same problem with one AR20 diopter. Solution is quite simple - you need to turn a little a screw which secure the sight. This one you will find on the left side (not on this picture).

That has solved my problem & I now have my adjustable iris in place.Rlyeh wrote:I had exact the same problem with one AR20 diopter. Solution is quite simple - you need to turn a little a screw which secure the sight. This one you will find on the left side (not on this picture).
Many Thanks,

Re: Hammerli AR20 Rear Sight
Now I feel slightly concerned that my rear sight spun out freely from the dealer.
