Police L Match

It's the same as a NRA 900 using a different target all at 25 yards.

We held a match today at PRGC with the proceeds donated to the local police widows and orphans.

There were three (count 'em) 897's out of 900. Winner by X count (58).

With the temperature over 110 it was lots of fun!

Damn, I was glad to hit the brew!

Yes, it was fun and I am proud to say I was one of the 897's. I was third on the X count. I will get you next time Roger. Thanks for coming.

Yep, "L" matches are fun and at the same nerve racking when you have that first shot outside the 10 ring.

My best scores were 897-64x with the .22 Marvel conversion
And 894-49x in CF with the M52-1

Good times at PRGC.
I miss it at times.

Out of curiosity, was this just for Police to compete or any shooters shooting a police target to raise funds?

Anyone can shoot in the match and all proceeds go to the "100 Club".

This sounds like a good match format for any gun club to hold occasionally.

Is the "100 Club" anyone who has ever fired a clean target at Phoenix Rod and Gun?

I had so many that I started giving them away :)

Rover has it partially right.
Between Zurek, Reiter and Brenda Silva, not much left to go around :)

In case someone does not get the jest of this off topic conversation, the proceeds do go to the Arizona 100 Club.

You're right....Zurek is over the hill. Reiter at least still has a few groupies, seen fondling him at matches.

Be nice to Brenda....although I don't know why she'd marry a Portagee.

Tony is a great guy and really good shot....that's why we can give him such crap.

The other three were or are some of the best in the US.

We've being running Police L matches for some time , most run it like a standard Bullseye match with 10min slow, 20sec timed and 10sec rapids. We run it the traditional way with 4 min slow, 15 sec timed and 11 sec rapids. I'm sure that's the way it was run "back in the day" when the revolver was standard issue. Thankfully, I don't go back that far, but our club does, being INC. about 1935. Its fun and you have to shoot perfect to get close to a win. My best was 894- (forgot the X's. I think I was about 12th or so with many high masters cleaning it and a few 898's.

We run it the same as you. The only one I remember cleaning it was John Zurek. He made us grovel at his feet and buy him beer.

Frankly, it was worth it. No matter how generous the target................perfect is well "Perfect". I would have went with Gin and Tonics myself...
