Apologies for such a newbie question but I've been shooting with a 1980s FAS 604 air pistol with the stock sights. On this gun the rear sight has a plate which is spring loaded and can rock from its base fore-aft about a millimeter. It returns to position but I wonder why it needs to be loose at all? Do people ever wedge these to hold steady or do I have too weak a spring? I don't understand the design intent.
Thanks,
Play in spring loaded target sights

Re: Play in spring loaded target sights
I am not familiar with the 604, but if it is spring loaded in the same axis as an adjustment screw it could be a method of keeping the unit backlash free. (No dead clicks between opposite adjustments)
