Tau 7 Compensator

Hello All,

Just ordered a compensator from Tau Brno for my Tau 7 Standard. Have not shot much to see how groups improved...but easily order with a wire transfer from my bank. I order off the Tau Brno website.

I also received mounting instructions.

Shoot a co2 TAU, with all the muzzle flip you'd be killing for any potential help.

That brake redirects gas up AND down? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? It needs to go all up and slightly pointed back to be efficient.

Where was this item shipped to? We looked at it for a junior shooter 2 months ago and were told no US sales.

I think the compensator for the Tau Brno Mk8 could be more effective in cutting down the muzzle flip, but I wonder if it would fit the Tau 7?

Iirc, Rade for Topgunairguns, had improved accuracy wíth the Tau 7 compensator.
Iirc, the new Tau 7 Jr version, uses a compensator that looks very similar to the one on the MK8.
But I think the Jr's barrel is thinner. Might fit a standard Tau 7 though.
Allthough I'd stick with the Tau 7 comp as that is made and tested for the Tau 7.

My MK8 indeed has the other comp, but its quite a 'weird' comp; I can FEEL the air on my shooting hand during the shot! Probably cause of the large holes and the direction of them.

Rover, an earnest question: Do your comments imply that the late Don Nygord, purveyor of the Turbo-Comp, was a fraudster?

Every pistol has a comp these days. It's an even playing field.

I knew Don, and he sold his pellet sizer to lots of folks. He told me they didn't work, but people would buy them anyway. In my tests (do a search) it was worse than useless.

I tried (owned) a couple of CO2 (Walther & Pardini) guns with the famed "Turbo-Comp" on them, but saw no difference one way or the other.

The main purpose of the Turbo-Comp was not to improve groups; it was to cut down on muzzle jump on CO2 pistols so you could call your shots better. It worked (still works on my Pardini K-60) very well for that purpose. There was a lot of talk about stripping gas away from the pellet's path or something along those lines, but I don't know if Don bought into that. That's my (unreliable) memory anyway.

If you can feel the air on your shooting hand during the shot, I can only assume that it is really cutting down on the muzzle flip. When I see a Steyr 8 duct comp, I see it more like a "pellet stabilizing compensator". I guess different comps give different results when fired out of a PCP/CO2 airgun.
