Maccari Prescription for FWB 124 & 300S

Post by Montivigant »

Have some Maccari clear tar, heavy tar and moly paste to service my 124 and 300S. For the 300S, I was planning on just a lightly applied coat of the clear on the piston and maybe a thin coat of moly brushed on the spring. Just want to keep metal/metal contact lightly lubed without sacrificing velocity/minimal SD as the 300's are so smooth as is. For the 124, was going moly on the seal/piston and using heavy tar on the spring, making sure not to get moly ahead of the seal. When Beeman "tuned" the 124 a few decades ago, it puked moly for several rounds. Fortunately, it didn't appear to damage the seal. Would prefer comments from those that know from personal experience vs those that proffer from mere imagination....
Obliged.

This is an Olympic style shooting forum. Spring guns are rarely used except by the nostalgic types. This is out of our area.

Mont, you are in the wrong place/forum. Go to

http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537

They will answer appropriately, your questions. I had Randy Bimrose

repair and tune my FWB mod 124D.
