Safely Unloading a Hammerli 150 Free Pistol?

Post by Gwhite »

The manual isn't very clear on this. If the pistol is loaded and the trigger set, what is the safest way to uncock the mechanism to remove the round?
Just opening the action seems risky. The alternative would be use to the cocking lever in conjunction with the trigger to release the firing pin & ease it forward. That also seems a bit dicey.

Thanks!

On some FPs - e.g. TOZ - you can decock the set trigger by holding down the set trigger lever, then pressing back the trigger, then releasing the set trigger lever while you keep the trigger depressed. I don't remember if this is possible on the 150, but it's easy enough to test while the gun is unloaded and the firing pin is uncocked.

Once you have decocked the set trigger, the gun is in the same condition as when you loaded it, and you can proceed to unload. However the 150's chamber is very tight, and unloading may be much more difficult than loading, and put a significant stress on the extractor.
