Taps - SFC Jack Maple

Post by fc60 »

Greetings All,

I heard a rumor at a match today that Jack Maple passed away.

A quick search found his obituary...

Jack was very instrumental in helping me with 32 wadcutter barrel work. He gave me my first piece of barrel blank to start with.

Jack also pranked me at the USA International Shooting Tryouts in the early 1980's. My free pistol had a six inch barrel with an extended front sight. After the equipment check in, Jack told me very stone faced that all was okay; but, I had to have a sight radius under two feet. I wish someone had taken a photo of my face. The line erupted in much laughter.

Jack was also a good friend of my wife's family. Jack and my Father-In-Law shot together in the late 50's and 60's.

I truly hope that Jack left peacefully without much discomfort.

Sincerely,

Dave Wilson
