My finger keeps scraping the bottom of the rail guard. Despite numerous adjustments on trigger, this annoying "touch" bothers me.
I was wondering if I can drop the barrel line down or "sink" the barrel line lower into the grip by scaping a few mm off the hard rubber pistol/grip support.
That "sinking" would solve my finger problem, also bring the barrel line lower like that of Cesar Morini's Matchgun.
Anyone done that?

It can be done easily but it will depend on how much space there is under the rear sight.
That will be mainly determined by the amount of angle you have on you grip in regard to the gun.
So, if there is a gap between the rear sight and the top of the grip, you are ok.
If they are nearly touching, you have to carve the top of the grip, but there is not much "meat" there...
Also, there should always be some clearance between the adjustment screws and the grip, otherwise when you adjust them, they will touch the grip and prevent the sights from moving.
You will only gain a couple of millimeters...
A reshape of the grip so that your finger reaches higher in the trigger might be a better solution...

In the case of my old Pardini K10 I had this sort of problem; my trigger finger rubbed fairly hard against the upper edge of the frame, either with the grip it came with (Rink size Large) or with the custom grip I made for it later. So I carved away some of the frame. Only a couple of millimetres, but enough to round it over and make the rubbing only slight and barely felt.
With my K12 they've taken this into consideration and the frame comes chamfered from the factory. No rubbing at all, using the same custom grip I had on the K10. So perhaps you could examine the pistol carefully, even contact Steyr and ask about internal dimensions in that area and find out if you have enough metal there to carve it into a better shape for your finger. If there is sufficient aluminum either you or a machinist could carve it to make it more comfortable, avoiding all the hassle of re-fitting the grip and perhaps interfering with the adjustable features of the Steyr grip mechanism.
