Walther LP200 velocity?

Post by geoffm62 »

I was wondering approximately what velocity my Walther LP200 should be shooting an 8.2 grain pellet? I recently had to order and replace a degraded o-ring inside my regulator. It seemed straightforward enough, however, the gun seems to be shooting weak. I probably didn't do something right, but I've had the gun apart a few times and can't figure out what it is. The gun is shooting around 370 fps with 8.2 gr. pellets. I don't know what it was shooting before.

Thanks

Most air pistols have a muzzle velocity of around 160 to 170 m/s (525fps to 558).
Your's seems very low.
I would adjust it so that it was closer to 525fps and go up if need be (not cutting the target properly).
Lighter pellets also help, but won't bring it from 370 to the 525fps.

Hope this helps

RMCA is right. In my own testing, I found if a gun is shooting 525fps with 8.2gr pellets (which many consider to be optimum velocity), it will be shooting 570 with 7gr pellets.

Thank you. I shot the gun yesterday with 7.3 gr. pellets and the velocity was just over 400 fps. I don't have the tools to adjust the regulator(or disassemble it and see what's wrong), so I'll probably be sending it in for repair.
