We got through days 3 and 4 here in Hannover, GER without any gun issues, but a hacker shut down the range computers for a while resulting in what the organizer called a “midnight final” for the R6 50m Prone Mixed event. The final actually started at 9:30pm, still making a very long day for athletes, coaches and match staff. John Joss (AMU) qualified in the 8th place for the final and moved up to 6th before being eliminated. A little after 10pm, dedicated spectators were treated to a 21st shot in the tiebreaker for Gold. 9 time Paralympian with 17 Gold Medals, Jonas Jacobsson (SWE) defeated Natascha Hilltrop (GER) after both tied at 207.5. Josh Budd (AMU) finished 34th in that event, but did achieve his MQS score for World Championship eligibility.
About 9 hours later (at 7:30 am), Tammy Delano competed in the Women’s Air Rifle competition. This year the ISCH is combining several of the Paralympic events with their Olympic counterparts, so there is no separate R2 event . Tammy got off to a great start, but succumbed to worries about time remaining on the second half and had to rush to finish with a 397.
Tomorrow is the last match day for team USA, with Delano, Joss and Budd all competing in the R3 10m Air Rifle Prone Mixed event.
