Ever Seen One Of These Vintage Ammo Boxes?

Post by TheShadow »

I saw an unusual vintage shotgun shell box at the flea market, empty, no shells, but was marked US Shooting Team. Had to buy it. Looks like some cool shooting memorabilia.

Does anyone know more about the history and what the value would be?

THANKS

Has to be pretty old. Standard for weight of shot has been 24g for a LONG time. 24g is less than 7/8 oz. I've only been around international shooting for about 22 years, and I don't ever remember 1-1/8 oz loads being legal.

This has got to be some really old stuff. Great find!!

Age of box

Yes, it has to pretty old. The 1 1/8 loads went out of use probably after the 1984 or 88 Olympics. I think this is from the mid to late '70s.

Anybody else have an opinion?

Are these old boxes valuable?

I can't imagine there are any left from that long ago.
