Diferent grades of L.R. ammo ?
New old shooter needs help. Back in the day I used T-22 indoors and Tenex or R-50 out doors ,the last 2 years I have used Wolf match extra at 100 and 200 yards in my restocked 1813 with good results. There are so many different grades of ammo. by the different manufactures I am totally lost. Can someone break down the accuracy potential of the grades using Wolf match extra as the median. Thankyou for the help Steve Bair Bairshuntingadventures@hotmail.com
Generally, the more expensive the ammo, the more it tends to shoot better.
That said, the best way to figure out what shoots best in your gun is take it to Eley or Lapua and test different lots of ammo. Even some of the most expensive ammo will shoot lousy in your gun.
I have a lot of STD+ (~$45/brick) that shoots as well as Midas+ ($170/brick) in my daughters gun.
Testing can save you money and get the most out of the rifle/ammo combo.
In the USA:
Lapua - Mesa, AZ: http://servicecenter.lapua.com/en/mesa/home.html
Eley - Winters, TX: http://www.eley.co.uk/en/index.php?acti ... ent_id=110
I tested at Lapua in Mesa, AZ because it was very close to home and was delighted by the service and attention that Darrell Stettmeier offered.
