Air Pistol/Rifle on paper targets

Post by rmca »

When shooting a match with air pistol or rifle, on sequentially numbered paper targets, do you have to shot them in the numeric order?

This is why I ask:

6.15 TIE-BREAKING
6.15.1 Individual Ties in 300m, 50m, 25m and 10m Events
All tied scores will be broken for 300m, 50m, 25m and 10m events by applying the following Rules:
· The highest number of inner tens;
· The highest score of the last ten (10) shot series working backward by 10-shot series in full ring scoring (not inner tens or decimals) until the tie is broken;

Thanks

You can shoot them in any order, just realize they will be scored per the rule book.

You may find a time you hang two targets as a "card", and the match operator may require you to shoot the target marked 1 (or 3) before the one marked 2 (or 4). If that is the case, make sure they are hung in the order you usually shoot (right or left target first).

why not shoot them in any order - if you consider the Classification Office has nothing better to do than sort out your targets.

You would be asking for trouble shooting them out of order, as per Spencers note.

The officials will collect and may score the cards as they go, so shooting them out of sequence may well be pointless. Personally at a smaller county match I think we'd just re-order them and assume they were shot in the right order, but I would talk to the shooter to enquire at the end of the match...

I didn't shot them out of order, we here talking at the range about the pressure of the last shoots and someone mentioned it.

I've looked at the rules and besides what Spencer said, couldn't find anything that clearly says that you have to shoot them in order. Either ascending or descending just to add more confusion...

" the athlete is responsible for shooting on the correct target" seams a little vague with regards to the shooting sequence. They are the correct targets (the same lane is what I read), they are just out of order.

And since the second tiebreaker is the last ten shots, how would you tell if the last ten shots are not on the last ten targets?

It is not an insurmountable problem, but will not get the shooter any brownie points with Classification.

Part of the reason for 6.11.3 Immediately after each series of ten (10) shots, the athlete must put the ten (10) targets in a convenient place for the Register Keeper who must put them in a secure container to be collected by authorized personnel for delivery to the Classification Office.

There are shooters who think they are being funny(???), and do this 'scrambling' of the targets.

Shoot them in any order you wish. No one will care in the least or even give a shit. Just shoot!
