cocking and loading problem...

my cocking and loading mechanism has become too sensitive. i have to be extremely carefull and slow while cocking and loading it otherwise it fires automatically without any pressure. the trigger is tight .

any idea what to do?

Increase the sear engagement, it needs more overlap.

... which would indeed be helped by knowing which pistol was being discussed, so as to point to the specific screw involved in adjusting sear engagement.

My Air pistol is WALTHER LP 400. I bought the gun 5 months ago. Few weeks back the trigger had become too light may be because of practise. This problem of automatic firing was then too if gun was cocked too quickly.
At that time I tightened the trigger and also decreased the second stage travel. For some time it was fine but now again the problem has come up.

Change the trigger weight, increase the trigger shoe travel, Review the two stages if necessarily, etc.

Had a walther a few months ago.
Done the exact same thing.
Found the instructions on the Internet.

It was dead easy to adjust. Seem to remember that you adjust the screw only half a turn from the point of disengagement.

Gun was perfect then.
Guess it might need a tiny bit of some thread locking liquid to prevent it happening again.

Read page 26 and 27.

You need to adjust the "a" screw and possibly the "e" screw as well.
