A news item today said the following:
"One new policy will end a government practice that lets military weapons, sold or donated by the U.S. to allies, be reimported into the U.S. by private entities, where some may end up on the streets. The White House said the U.S. has approved 250,000 of those guns to be reimported since 2005; under the new policy, only museums and a few other entities like the government will be eligible to reimport military-grade firearms."

Will this stop the CMP from importing M1's if they can find them? If so, it won't be too long before the CMP is out of business as this is their main source of income.

I doubt it will stop CMP acquisitions of US weapons like M1's and carbines, because those firearms were sold or lended under Foreign Military Sales contracts and are returned from foreign governments under contract to the Army and later transferred to CMP.
What it will stop is SARCO and other US commercial importers from acquiring and reselling more surplus Garands, K-31's, Colt 1911's, Nagant pistols and the like.

Thanks Obama!
This will effectively end the CMP. Get your orders in for Garands now before they are all gone forever. The president's executive order banning the reimportation of "military weapons" really only affects old M-1 Garand 30-06 rifles. These rifles have been used in the Civilian Marksmanship Program program and are mainly purchased by collectors. At one time they were "military weapons," but they were used in World War II and the Korean War.
