Match Target 10M Crossbow (Winzeler and Walther)

Post by conradin »

I know this is totally out the place to ask this question, but searching through the index I saw that there have been discussion about this subject, especially since the 10M Crossbow is essentially the same as 10M AR in terms of set up and scoring.

I am trying to import a Winzeler or a Lothar Walter. But it seems that there is customs problem, or the seller is unable to find a courier willing to bring it to the USA. Anyone has experience in this situation? The US governing body for crossbow does not affiliate itself with the IAU, so only the semi-retired or retired veterans can answer these questions, and rigvht now they are trying to track down the their IAU world champions, most of them were winners back in the 1980s. So I am not sure they can help.

I know there are at least three people in this forum has match crossbow. Unless you obtain it within the US, please help.

I intend to get one so that it can be relaxation hobby or entertainment whenever I am not using my homemade range for 10M AP. Although a full Kurt Thune would be needed for serious competition I have no intention of buying anything other than a cheap used jacket. 20M ist standing only, and I don't see any reason to purchase anything beyond the jacket.

Please advice. I know nothing of this discipline, so if you do know, and know whom or which bulletin board I should go to and ask, please advice.

I asked Peter Sidi, but I don't think he can help much. I am sure he drove from Budapest to Zurich and picked up his bow without any customs consequences.

This sport is dying or dead in the US, but I don't really care since I do not plan to compete but merely trying to maximize usage of my 10M home range. Also another excuse to buy a electric pulley system.

If you have one for sale here in the USA, please let me know. Preferably Winzeler 1xx or Lothar Walther Vinzenz Huber, Scherrer, etc. I wil also take the 30M one, but I prefer 10M. I am not interested in the field crossbow, that is something that is totally not related to target shooting. (30M is frequently compares with 50M ISSF competition).
