Clean but cheap ammo for free pistol?

Post by brent375hh »

I currently am using Eley Target for free pistol. It does cause some unburned powder to get in the action and trigger. Is there any favorites in this department? Wolf does not want to come out of my 150 and CCI does not want to go in. I did shoot some Federal Champion that seemed OK as far as function, but that was too far back for me to remember about how clean it was.

These days you kinda use what you can get. In a Free Pistol I wouldn't be too concerned because it will always work if you can cram it in. You won't need an alibi string.

You can always look for .22lr Remington Golden Bullet or Winchester 555. Rover can always demonstrate that he can shoot his FP scoring in the mid 550s range using those, just as good as any Eley, CCI, Lapua, Wolf, RWS, etc. I'm sure he is also willing to demonstrate that in a NRA900 match.
